How We Started
The first civil war round table in Boston was formed in 1957. Our chapter of the Civil War Round Table of Greater Boston was formed in Lynn on the North Shore in 1991.

General Membership Meetings
We hold meetings from September to June on the second Friday of the month at the General Frederick W. Lander Grand Army of the Republic Post 5, 58 Andrews Street, Lynn, Massachusetts, 01901. The meetings are open to the public and everyone is welcome. They usually begin at 7:30 p.m. with a brief business meeting followed by a presentation and conclude with refreshments. Occasionally the meetings start at a different time or have a different format, so be sure to check the Calendar of Events page.

Speakers and Presentations
Most of our meetings feature speakers or some form of presentation. We encourage our members to speak on the subjects that interest them, but we also bring in noted authorities on the Civil War from around the country to address us. In the past, we've been fortunate to have had such luminaries as Ed Bearrs, Jeffery Wert and Bud Robertson.

Dinner Meetings
We try to have three dinner meetings a year: a dinner with speaker at a local restuarant in September, and potluck suppers at the G.A.R. Hall in June and December. For the last couple of years our potluck suppers have featured the period music of Robert Kilham and the Amoskeag Players. See the Calendar of Events page for details of this year's dinners.

Trips
The round tables of Massachusetts sponsor trips to historic sites associated with the Civil War. Once a year there is a three night bus trip to a major site or area, usually in the late spring. Shorter overnight trips are typically scheduled in the fall. Check the Calendar of Events page for details about this year's trips.
